Each week Amanda [Running with Spoons] hosts Thinking Out Loud Thursday. A chance for us to do some brain-dump blogging. And to hang out with fun people.

Heeey Thursday Friends! Okay.  You guys are my friends all the time.  Not just on Thursdays! But I do super enjoy getting to hang out with you on Thursdays!  Let’s get this party started!

1 – You may have missed my What I Ate Wednesday post yesterday.  Wait.  Actually, it didn’t happen.  The awesome WIAW host – Peas and Crayons has been doing some soul searching on WIAW post moderation.  I totally don’t blame her.  The Internet is a beast!  I was rushing to scrape together some pictures Tuesday night and realized that I was totally making her point.  WIAW posts shouldn’t be scraped together.  I’ll be back in the saddle next week 🙂 

2 – Maybe we can start with something that I did eat on Wednesday to make up for it?! This. Smoothie. IMG_20150225_072146Somewhere in the middle of the week last week I started putting Tofu in Every.Thing.  This mainly stems from the fact that we have three (yeah, three) cases of shelf stable tofu from Costco that needs eating…rather soon.  Throwing it in smoothies has been really awesome.  This smoothie has: soy milk, tofu, spinach, cherries, dates, and PECANS.  It tastes like a pecan tart.  For – Reals.   

3 – Do you see the SOCKS in that picture?! Yes…February socks – DONE!IMG_20150223_220651These poor socks.  You may remember me mentioning a last week that I broke a pair of knitting needles?!  TRAGIC! These socks were the poor recipients of that bad luck.  They aren’t my cleanest knit yet – but they are warm and toasty (and hanging out on my feet as we type!) 🙂 

4 – If February socks are done, that means it’s time to move on to my next pair, right?! #NeverNotKnittingIMG_20150225_092750These.  Wow.  I can’t even…So pretty.  I was going to cast on another pair with super thick fingering yarn, but these just spoke to me.  That pink.  and. All the colors.  Luckily my new size 1.5 needles came – so I rocked through the toes of these Tuesday night.  (KnitPicks Hawthorne Happy Valley)

5 – On Wednesday someone “liked” a super old Instagram picture of mine.  Do you ever wonder how this randomly happens?  It makes me think of summer time.  2015-02-25 11.20.49

Oh.  And strawberry lime water.  Need.  This.  Now.  🙂 

6 – Can I take two seconds to vent?  I know there are mailing lists.  And I know that I am “within child baring age” and “married but not yet with child” – but I wish there were ways to opt out of those mailing lists.  This came from my (old job) insurance company this week.  Awesome way to get your day ruined :/ IMG_20150219_195316#InfertilitySucks #ThanksForTheReminder

7 – In happier news, my new alarm clock came! IMG_20150225_133741Yes.  We use an alarm clock.  Well.  I take that back – we just use the clock part.  About a year ago we moved our phones (which is what we use as an alarm) to the other side of the bedroom.  This has super-duper helped our sleeping habits.  (Ever catch yourself peeking at your phone in the middle of the night…yeah…).  But my problem was, I would wake up during the night and wonder what time it was – and I would stay awake trying to guess or figure it out.  So, about 3 month ago we plugged in an old alarm clock that we had and put it on my nightstand.  This helps SO MUCH! Well…last weekend Nathan was trying to reset the time on the clock (the power went out), and he broke off the button that turned the alarm off.  So…the alarm stayed on…no matter what you did.  That sucker got unplugged, and we ordered a new one.  Despite being PRIME, it took a few days to come.  We really hadn’t realized how much we depended on the clock – it was driving us both crazy!  We think this one will be excellent for our near-sided eyes 🙂 

Alright, folks.  That is about all that’s going on in these parts.  (I’ve started using the word “Folks” a lot lately) (Not sure why).

  1. I have a clock on my night stand, and I use both the clock part and the alarm part. I am a chronic snooze-button-hitter and there is no way I would be able to wake up just with the alarm on my phone. Even if I set 10 different alarms. I also work a weird schedule, and it’s a pain constantly setting multiple phone alarms… it’s so much easier to just flip the switch on my alarm clock.

    That is a good idea to put your phone across the room. I am really bad about looking at my phone in the middle of the night, and it is usually to check things that aren’t important. People also text me as I’m falling asleep and then I get involved in late-night conversations instead of getting my sleep.

    • Glad I’m not the only one with a bedside clock 😉
      Moving the phone across the room has been SUCH a huge help! I was getting to the point that I was even writing back to work emails during the night < not okay! It's also more reason to get out of bed in the morning - because you can't just lounge while browsing 🙂 Plus - when my alarm goes off on my phone (across the room) - I have to get up - and it's amazing what that does to your staying up willpower 🙂
