Each week Amanda [Running with Spoons] hosts Thinking Out Loud Thursday. A chance for us to do some brain-dump blogging. And to hang out with fun people.

thursdaysGuess what?  I have seriously missed you guys.  Don’t get me wrong.  VEDA is an awesome challenge.  But it’s just that – a challenge.  Vlog every day?  < Sure!  Upload and deal with youtube – every day? < Okay! Watch everyone else’s videos and make intelligent (which I did spell wrong the first time, thank you very much) comments and be engaged in replying to comments on my own videos < Uhm.  Yep.  I can do that.  But…did I mention I’m a painfully introverted person and sometimes I like to just hide behind the keyboard?  Because then I have spellcheck and backspace.  And … you don’t really have to see that my face broke out for the first time in 6 months during the last week of Vlogging.  < Seriously.  20140828_091736Then why do I do it?  Because it really is fun.  And it pushes me out of my comfort zone.  < Which is an incredibly good thing.  Plus, I get to meet such awesome people that I would have never met any other way.  < And – since making friends is not the top of my “handy dandy skill set” I think it’s important to grasp at any straws I can.  😉 

Andddd…I’ll be returning to vlogging in October for VlogTober – which I am actually hosting this year.  But don’t worry.  I may not drop off here as much.  VlogTober may stay more on my YouTube channel.  We’ll just see.  🙂 

I guess all of that is to say that …as much as I enjoy connecting on YouTube through Vlogs – you guys have my true heart.  From behind the keyboard.  🙂 

So…What has happened during this month that I’ve been gone?  

Well – obviously – lots of vlogging.vlogs…But that’s not what you want to hear about! 

How about…The Cat?  As you saw last week, he’s continuing to be Mister Personality. indy tableUhm, I’m pretty sure you forgot to serve me dinner

Mister Personality who now requires 2 medications daily and frequent visits to the Vets office that end in biting that draws blood, and – most recently – hissing at a dog who weighed 10 times his weight to the point he (Mr. Huge Dog) hid under a chair whimpering.  crateLuckily he fully supports our current weekly multiple – times – a – week addiction to Chipolte.  Mainly because sitting in the take out bag as soon as it’s empty is his new Favorite Thing.  cihpHe has also claimed my new office chair for his own.  Adamantly, in fact.  chairUhm.  Yeah.  That’s Nathan carrying Indy  – in The Chair – up the steps.  

But – he’s really cute.  So…we keep him around 🙂 holeI keep saying I’m not a crazy cat person – but the fact that I just updated you with 200 quick facts about my Cat after a month of speaking to you only through Vlogs may mean the scales have tipped a bit towards the crazy side.  Opps.  🙂 

Uhm.  Do you remember in The Winter when I talked obsessed about loving socks? I’ve started knitting them now.  The obsession is now out of control.  I have 6 zillion Christmas presents in my list to knit.  But I just Keep.Knitting.Socks.  socksLast week the internet went down for 3 hours.  Our house is so incredibly clean now.  There’s something about the house being clean…that actually gives me the motivation to keep it clean.  I”m sure that won’t last long. 

I’ve started waking up at 535AM every morning.  #AmIGettingThatOld? This actually started as an experiment.  I wanted to wake up early enough that being rushed wasn’t an excuse to skip my walk commute (<< Which I am in LOVE with …BTW)walk…So I wanted to get up early.  But just TURNING BACK THE ALARM 45 minutes seemed so so painful. Instead I decided to turn it back 5 minutes a week.  Yep.  Only 5 minutes.  For 5 days.  Then – the next Monday – 5 more minutes back.  It took time (figuratively and literally) to make it back the whole 45 minutes.  Okay.  Confession.  I made it 40 minutes earlier in the end.  And at that point my mornings were super-not-stressful because I had the perfect amount of time to get everything done without being rushed – but not so much extra time that I felt like I could have slept for ages longer.  Oh.  And…I moved my alarm (aka – my phone) to the dresser across the room.  Oh geez this was painful.  I hadn’t realized how much my phone had turned into a sleep-soothing device.  Ouch!  Now that I’ve found the sweet-spot time wise…my body is actually feeling awake when the alarm goes off.  Now…I’m not saying I’m not tired.  But maybe I found the perfect “spot” in my sleep rhythm to feel awesome as close to awesome as possible when I wake up.  

Plus…these views make it totally worth it 🙂 sunApparently the getting up early has rubbed off a little too much on me.  This weekend (after I woke up early to feed/medicate the cat) I couldn’t go back to sleep, no matter how hard I tried.  The solution?  Go running.  Maybe then you’ll be tired.

Capture1Sunday around town ending with a walk through the stream behind the house (<because that seemed way better than walking up the driveway!) (<It was).  (and beating my fastest mile time!)

Capture3Btw.  The whole running-to-get-tired-so-you-can-go-home-and-sleep-in-like-a-normal-person thing TOTALLY isn’t working.  #JustInCaseYouWereWondering. 

So…that’s what’s been happening since we’ve been apart.  I’m super glad to have you guys back.  🙂 🙂 I’ll see you next week!
