Each week Amanda [Running with Spoons] hosts Thinking Out Loud Thursday. A chance for us to do some brain-dump blogging. And to hang out with fun people.
Today [Wednesday] is actually my first day back at work since last Thursday. Yep. That’s right. I took days off work. Whoa. I had originally planned to take all of this week off .. but that didn’t happen. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were wonderful, though. π
You think that means that I have this blog post all wrapped up nice and tidy during my days off? Nope. < writing it now…Wednesday night.
Let’s look and see what my days off consisted of: Learning to french braid my hair (!!!! EEK!) Thanks to Kenietha and youtube.
…Plus getting to wear my kitty shirt (above) while we went to Costco and got a HUGE haul of stuff! < Haul video. Speaking of Costco hauls, Indy is very happy that we went and got him this new box (from a case of Izze soda). He’s decided it’s very slimming for him to sit in such a small box. π
Speaking of sitting Indy-Cat: on Father’s day a couple weeks ago we brought in these outdoor chairs for extra seating. Indy immediately laid claim to this one and refused to get out. < We held the chair upside down and he held on. So, he ate dinner with us. Every night the chair was there.
Even, this past weekend, when we moved the chair back outside so I could enjoy an epic-back porch-knitting marathon, he still decided it was his. And those claws? Yep, they are in the side of my calf right there. Love you little crazy cat.
Also. In case you were wondering. Yep, that is a leash and harness on him. After living in a one story house for almost his whole life he doesn’t seem to understand the importance of height. For example, the importance of the fact that the deck is on the 2nd story of the house, and those tiny tree branches outside of it will not hold him. He can still go all over the deck with his leash on, he just can’t jump off of it. Which is better for all of us. π
I also enjoyed a few warm, humid, lazy lake runs. Let’s talk about 96% humidity. Is that even real? Isn’t that just…rain? Not complaining, though. Last summer it rained every single day in June!
Speaking of June. Uhm. When did it become the last (full) week? July is next week? Whaaat?!Summer CSA vegetables have been to die for. For example: This random layering of sun-kissed goodness baked to perfection. Yes. Please. Every. Day.
Can we take 2 seconds to applaud the genius of this bedding company? We bought a new set of sheets when we were shopping last week and when we went to put on the fitted sheet < The Worst Job in the World, we noticed this handy tag. Which makes me feel like maybe we aren’t the only people who put the sheet on sideways multiple times before getting it turned around correctly. No more with these sheets. Finally, a company who cares. π
I also started reading a new book (The Beach Street Knitting Society and Yarn Club) during my Stay-Cation. < Which may explain why this blog post isn’t written yet. I’ve just started it but it’s lovely so far. It makes me want to just binge read. While binge knitting [< which I didn’t already need help doing]. I’ve been trying to master reading and knitting at the same time. I’ve got knitting and TV. And knitting and talking. But knitting and reading is still just a bit far of a reach. I’ll get there, though. π
So…I think that’s all my “being back at work is hard” brain can dump right now! I hope everyone is having a great week! You can click here to check out other Thursday thoughts and I’ll see you next week!

I would love to know what goes on in the minds of felines when they see a box. Big or small, my little fatty cat will claim any box he can find. I have yet to figure out why.
Baked veggies sound delish. I think it’s high time I take a trip to the supermarket!

We have a dozen or so cat beds for him, and he will always choose a box over the nice cushy beds. So silly!
π Veggies are wonderful!
Hearing all those quirky stories about cats makes me really wish that I could have one. Stupid allergies sucking all the fun out of life. And we used to have a rabbit that we’d put on a harness so that he could run around the yard. Cutest.thing.ever.

Awe! Rabbit! Rabbits are adorable pets. I used to walk a guinea pig that we had at school on a leash π Indy certainly doesn’t “go on a walk” since he just sits down and stares at things.
I am impressed you were able to get your cat to wear a harness! I tried that when my cats were young and they were having NONE of it.

There are certainly days he wants nothing to do with it. π Most days he’s really excited because he knows it means he gets to go outside! He just doesn’t like it when I lift up his paw to put the one side underneath it. Once that’s done, we’re golden π
Happy Thursday!
That sheet is genius! I wish they all had that!
SERIOUSLY!! It made us super happy!
French braids are awesome! Ever since I learned how to do a side braid, it’s my daily style. Mostly because it’s quick and easy π

Braids are especially awesome for my hair when I don’t feel like washing it π π
