Hi!!! Happy Thursday!! (Well. Today (while I’m writing this) is really Wednesday. But it’ll be Thursday before you see it :))
This morning (Wednesday) I had to take Indy [The Cat] to the vet for his rabies shot. This was him moments before I had to completely ruin his whole entire life and put him in the cat carrier. He was declared in “as good as health as a diabetic cat can be” and the vet complimented his weight gain and general happiness and said he seems to be doing amazingly well. Although – he was a tad misbehaved at the vet. I told you – I ruined his whole entire life by taking him there. Indy isn’t really a sweet loving cat, but he’s not a mean cat either. Except for at the vet. Where he bites and hisses at everyone, including me. In fact, when the vet-tech came to get us, the conversation went something like this:
Vet tech – “Indiana Jones – are you ready”
Me – “Yes”
Vet tech – (while taking a deep breath and exhaling) “I think I am too, I had to mentally prepare for him”. Then he bit her.
It’s kind of embarrassing. But – I guess I wouldn’t like being locked in a box, driven in a car, taken to a strange smelling place to be poked at.
Here – he wants to redeem himself. Meet his favorite new toy. Little chunks of crushed ice. He thinks they’re the GREATEST thing to bat around on the hardwood floor. Then, when he’s done, He’ll often sit and watch them while they melt. And then…he’s really sad when it’s gone, and he’ll come purr for another one. I figure – it’s a free toy. It’s a toy he will actually play with. And maybe having the ice all over the floor will clean the floor a bit? I can hope, at least. 🙂
In other family-news. Graduation last weekend! Sorry for the TERRIBLE coloration in the picture – I had the camera ISO set to some terrible flouresant setting for inside graduation, and forgot to reset it when we got outside. I am super proud of Nathan for getting his masters degree! We’re ready to head on the next journey!
How about beautiful weather this week! It’s been in the 60’s – 80’s every day so far. We are about to get slammed with some rain (i.e. – flooding), but for now we’ve been soaking up the sunshine. On Tuesday I even ran to work! I was walking for the first few minutes (I often walk-commute when it’s nice), and then I thought…I’m wearing running clothes, and shoes that I can run in, why don’t I run?! It was a beautiful slow jog and I felt amazing (and very warm 🙂 ) when I got to work! The commute home was a very slow walk, though – because it was 83 degrees. This girl doesn’t do 83 very well. So hot. (I know someone’s going to laugh at me for that – but it rarely gets in the 80’s here)Yay run/walk-commutes.
Speaking of alternative commutes, this week is National Bike to Work Week!
I do bike commute from time to time – especially if I am short on time, or need to be at work very early. But I far-prefer walking (or now running!). It’s a lot more peaceful. Our town is not at all bike-commute friendly – which is a terrible shame, because it’s so beautiful! (It’s not really walker friendly either, I just happen to have a nice straight shot of (mostly) sidewalk). I would love to live in a city (or town!) that was alternative – commute friendly. Things like these just make me smile:
An underground bike garage in Japan.
At work me and some friends have started a “plank challenge”. We’re using an app called “Plank-A-Lot” that slowly builds you up to longer planks. We’re at 90 seconds right now and I can almost! make it the whole 90 seconds. Oh abs. You need so much work.
Does anyone else use washi tape? I am a..uhm..bit..obsessed. I had to go to staples the other day and picked up a some new additions to my stash. <read…I have a whole lot more than just this. These were just the additions. Oh geez. Aren’t those kittys sooo cute?! AND THE BIKES!!! Oh wow. I love it all! Washi Tape EVERYWHERE.
Speaking of obsessed. This Salted Caramel has been essentially a part of every meal this week.
